ANNOTATION
| The doctoral programme aims to prepare highly qualified specialists in the field of petrology. Its scope includes a wide range of scientific fields – Igneous Petrology (igneous processes and systems, igneous associations and series, experimental petrology, igneous evolution), Volcanology, Metamorphic Petrology and Geoarchaeology.
The training in the department takes place using the existing modern facilities which include modern specialised laboratories and applying an interdisciplinary research approach. All this allows for a comprehensive and complex research and evaluation of the petrologic issues concerned and for a significant expansion and enrichment of the knowledge and professional experience of the PhD students. The training in the PhD programme conducted by the Department of Mineralogy and Petrography corresponds to the mission and strategy of the UMG “St. Ivan Rilski” in the field of higher education. With regard to the applied aspect of the PhD programme, besides the study of natural systems’ sites related to the ore and non-ore mineralisation, some interdisciplinary studies in the field of technogenic raw materials and artefacts can also be mentioned. The PhD graduates can find occupational fulfilment in academic and scientific institutions as well as in enterprises and companies related to the prospecting, exploration, mining and processing of minerals and energy raw materials. |
