ANNOTATION
Training in the doctoral programme of Blasting Equipment and Technology is in full compliance with the contemporary trends in the development of science and technology nationally and globally, and conforms to the specific character and the research priorities in the Department of Opencast Development of Minerals and Blasting Operations and the University of Mining and Geology “St. Ivan Rilski”. Highly qualified university lecturers are provided who are experienced in the training of doctoral students and offer training to highly specialised research workers with high qualification in the scientific course of studies in Blasting Equipment and Technology. Two habilitated lecturers with a qualification in the scientific course of study are employed at The Department of Opencast Development of Minerals and Blasting Operations.
An important factor in the training of doctoral students is the co-ordinated and team work with highly qualified lecturers from other departments of the University of Mining and Geology who performg in other scientific fields, as well as with highly qualified specialists from leading companies in the mineral branch of industry. The training of doctoral students and the participation of the basic unit, the Department of Opencast Development of Minerals and Blasting Operations, in a number of research and applied projects have allowed the building and maintenance of a specialised research, design and software-equipped base which is suitable for the development and implementation of various technological solutions. The modern material base established, along with the provided library and information services on a high technological level, contribute to the better preparation of the doctoral students. All full-time students taking a PhD are provided with individual places of work, computers for self-use, Internet connection, and specialised software. The Department of Opencast Development of Minerals and Blasting Operations has at its disposal the necessary number of laboratories for conducting experimental activities. Doctoral students have unlimited access to current educational and specialised literature Training in the doctoral programme in the scientific course of study in Blasting Equipment and Technology is grounded on continuing the tradition of using innovatory practices in the training of doctoral students at the Department of Opencast Development of Minerals and Blasting Operations. Innovative practices consist in conducting various types of creative scientific and applied research related to blasting equipment and technologies, as well as in demonstrating the results of the implementation of the developed contemporary solutions in real conditions. The application of this approach in the training of doctoral students allows them to amass interdisciplinary knowledge and valuable practical and professional experience in making the large-scale transition from theoretical to real conditions. The training unit, the Department of Opencast Development of Minerals and Blasting Operations, actively maintains close contacts with the companies which operate in the field of the mining of minerals and are directly or indirectly interested in the offered doctoral programme. The results of the training of students taking a PhD fully comply with the public needs of this country and of the European Union. |
