ANNOTATION
The training of doctoral students is an inseparable part of the entire educational and scientific process in the Department of Mine Ventilation and Technical Safety.
The safe and healthy working conditions are provided by various means and technical solutions: hazard monitoring, registering of violations to safe operations, modeling of risk situations, and last but not least, analysis of applicable technical and technological methods of risk management. Very often, these methods are essentially ventilation methods, and this is the technological cross-sectional plane between the courses of study in Occupational Safety Technique and Anti-Fire Equipment and in Mine Aerology. Apart from the health risk management in mines, ventilation is one of the three life support systems; therefore, the two courses of study are thematically united within one department and many of the findings and essential factors in shaping the ideology of the two courses of study are intertwined and interact in close connection. The objective of student training in the educational and scientific degree of “Doctor” in the scientific course of study in Occupational Safety Technique and Anti-Fire Equipment is to form specialists in areas that require knowledge of the principles of ensuring safe and healthy labour conditions by assessing the potential contaminants in the workplace and the environment and by offering and evaluating effective ways to overcome and minimise the risks they pose. A very topical and relevant trend in the long term is the extension of the areas of application towards the spread of various noxious factors, such as noise, vibration, mechanical blast waves, gaseous contaminants and particulate pollutants, and outlining the hazardous/risk-free zones for people and facilities in a free atmosphere for environmental measurements and calculations. This goal is achieved by providing a laboratory base and information support for conducting research in the respective field of study, namely: modern equipment for measuring the gas composition of the air; measurement of noise, vibrations, illuminance, slipperiness of surfaces for motion; temperature of spontaneous ignition and explosiveness of various substances (coal, minerals, other types of industrial dust); gas, smoke, and thermal protection of man. The motives for training personnel in the qualification degree of “Doctor” and the major results expected from the training of doctoral students are as follows:
