ANNOTATION

UMG “St. Ivan Rilski”, Sofia, trains PhD students in correspondence with the modern scientific trends in the vocational field code 02.04.07, Lighting Equipment and Light Sources.

The training in the scientific and educational doctoral programme in the vocational field 02.04.07 Lighting Equipment and Light Sources at the Department of Electrification of Mine Production, UMG “St. Ivan Rilski”, is conducted after successful graduation from a Master’s degree course of study and the passing of the entrance exams.

The training is aimed at:
1. Preparing highly qualified researchers in the field of lighting equipment and light sources in all industrial branches.
2. Creating new scientific products targeted at improving the effectiveness, the technical and ecological parameters of the lighting equipment.
3. Informing about the newest achievements in science and equipment in the related area.
4. Developing methods and technical means for measurement and control related to light management.
5. Further development of the theory for light ergonomics and application of the results in the different industrial branches and administrative and residential buildings via experimental testing of the physiology of vision and the vision development.
6. Studying and solving of issues related to creating new calculation methods in the area of lighting equipment and light sources as well as application of contemporary mathematical methods for their solution and implementation by creating modern software and equipment.
7. Supporting the research development and the use of lighting equipment in the mining, industrial, utilities and transport sectors (street and tunnel lighting).
8. Creating conditions and stimulating the professional development of young scientists and ensuring continuity at the department.
9. Creating prerequisites for future self-development and improvement.

During the training, special attention is paid to ensuring the independent work of the PhD students and the necessary contacts with consultants from the scientific and industrial sphere. In addition, joint training courses with leading lecturers on MATLAB are organised.
