ANNOTATION

The Department of Economics and Management combines the functions of a basic and a profiled educational unit.

Through its lecturers, the department offers training to students from all courses of study at the University in the course units of “Economics” and “Management” and to students in the accredited course of study in Management of Resources and Production Systems for the Bachelor’s degree and in Industrial Management for the Master’s degree in compliance with the academic and vocational orientation of education at the University of Mining and Geology.

The doctoral programme at the department is aimed at acquiring knowledge, intellectual qualities, and practical skills in the field of economics, organisational, and management technologies. In the course of the doctoral program, the dissertations are developed in the same vocational field. The focus is on the study of course units that extend the knowledge gained in the Master’s degree.

The training spectrum is broad, thus creating conditions for doctoral students to acquire specific theoretical and practical organisational and managerial knowledge and skills in order to understand the processes from the point of view of the economy and to make the correct management decisions that ensure the high level of technical and economic efficiency in the material and non-material sphere.

The academic staff within the training unit is employed full-time and their qualification and occupational experience provide a productive academic environment for the successful preparation of doctoral students. As of 2020, the Department of Economics and Management has had six highly qualified habilitated lecturers for the training of doctoral students in vocational field 3.7. Administration and Management

The educational model for the training of doctoral students in the Department of Economics and Management is based on the principle of consistent amassing of knowledge and gaining of practical skills while observing the comprehensive curriculum and implementing it in full.
